In Railz! CLASSIC, you can take your time and plan your moves carefully.

How To Play
The objective in Railz! is to complete loops of railway tracks by moving tiles around on the board.

To move a tile, first select the tile by clicking on it. Then click on any empty space on the board to move it to the new location.

After a tile is moved, a new replacement tile will be placed at the old location.

You score each time you complete a loop. The bigger the loop, the more points you score.

Tiles forming the loop will be removed from the board.

Perhaps the best way to learn how to play this game is to watch a replay.

how to play

It is possible for a replacement tile to complete a loop and you will still earn points for that. Make this part of your strategy.

Scoring
You score each time you complete a loop of railway track. The bigger the loop (measured by the number of tiles used to complete the loop), the higher the score. The score increases exponentially with the number of tiles to reward risk-taking (please refer to the table below):

Tiles Removed Score
4 +4
6 +10
8 +24
10 +46
12 +76
... ...
k +((k-4)^2+k)

Gentle Reminder: the objective of the game is to complete loops of railway tracks, not just to connect the longest track!

Special Tiles
Bonus Tiles
Tiles containing a dollar sign are special Bonus Tiles that cannot be moved once placed on the board. These tiles improve your score when you include them in a loop - each Bonus Tile is counted as three tiles for the purpose of scoring. Therefore, if you complete a loop consisting of four tiles and one of them is a Bonus Tile, your score will be based on six tiles (instead of the usual four), giving you a +10 instead of the normal +4.

Furthermore, if you manage to complete a loop consisting of at least seven (7) special Bonus Tiles, your deck of replacement tiles will be replenished by the same number of tiles used to complete the loop, giving you the chance to extend gameplay and accumulate even more points.

Bonus Tiles are double-edged swords - they can help you earn higher scores but they can also obstruct your path to completing loops since they cannot be moved.

Broken Railway Tiles
You can move these tiles around normally but they are worthless - they cannot be used to complete railway loops since they contain, well, broken tracks. As play progresses, you will find your available empty space on the board reducing because of these broken railway tracks. In order to remove these tiles, you must arrange them in a loop that consists of only Broken Railway tiles (no mixing with other types).

Broken Railway Tiles are completely useless. Sad but true.

Ending
You start the game with a deck of 60 tiles. Each time you move a tile on the board, the next tile from the deck is placed at the old location of the tile just moved. The game ends when the deck runs out of tiles (you will be allowed one last move after the last tile is placed).

The game will also end if you cannot move any tile, for eg. there are no more empty space on the board, or there are no moveable tiles on the board (ie, all the tiles you have on the board are special tiles).

Keep your eyes on the number of tiles left. If you are running out of tiles, trying to build a large loop is risky!
